On federal taxes, Samantha Jacoby emphasized how added IRS funding would help ensure high-income households and businesses pay their taxes. On health, Paul N. Van De Water clarified that the Inflation Reduction Act will reduce Medicare drug costs, not cut benefits. Farah Erzouki explained how states can help eligible immigrants keep Medicaid coverage at the public health emergency’s end. Maani Stewart noted that states can use text messaging to communicate effectively with Medicaid and SNAP enrollees. On state budgets and taxes, Iris Hinh and Samantha Waxman described how many states are creating or expanding tax credits to help families afford the basics. On food assistance, Joseph Llobrera explained how SNAP benefit adjustments will help low-income households cope with food inflation. On family income support, Ali Zane and Cristina Toppin highlighted a study that shows why the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program is not the success that some claim.
