Welcome to the website of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (“the Center”).  The Center makes the materials and services available to you on this website subject to the conditions below.  If you visit this site, you accept these terms and conditions.  Please read them carefully. 

Privacy

Please review our Privacy Policy.  It also governs your visit to this site and explains how we collect and use information about you.

The materials produced by or for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (including, but not limited to text, photographs, graphics, video and audio content) are protected by copyright as a collective work or compilation under the copyright laws of the United States and other countries. All individual articles, content and other elements comprising this compilation and produced by or for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities are also copyrighted works. You must abide by all additional copyright notices or restrictions contained in any materials produced by or for the Center.

Trademarks, Logos and Tradenames

The trademarks, service marks, logos and trade names displayed on www.cbpp.org (collectively the “Marks”) are the registered and unregistered trademarks of the Center and others. The Marks owned by the Center, whether registered or unregistered, may not be used in connection with any product or service that is not the Center’s.

License

Unless otherwise indicated, you may reprint, publish, reproduce or otherwise display materials created by the Center on budget and Policy Priorities provided that (a) the use is for a noncommercial purpose, (b) you attribute those materials to the Center and the authors of the material, and (c) you provide a link to our website (www.cbpp.org).  Specifically, any article or materials that you copy or otherwise reproduce in this matter must be displayed with its by-line, if applicable, under the following heading:

"This material was created by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (www.cbpp.org).” 

Editorial Changes Not Permitted

You may not make any editorial changes to articles or materials without first receiving express permission from the Center. This provision does not restrict excerpting portions of content in a manner that does not alter the editorial intent.

Limit on Use

Except as expressly permitted above, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, enter into a database, display, perform, modify, create derivative works, transmit, or in any way exploit any material produced by or for the Center.

Unsolicited Email Policy

The presence of email addresses on this site is not an invitation for unsolicited commercial email. The use of spiders, robots, and other technologies to collect email addresses from this site is prohibited. Senders of email are expected to abide by all applicable state and federal laws.

Representations and Warranties

Access to, and use of, www.cbpp.org is on an “as is” and “as available” basis.  You expressly agree that any reliance upon any opinion, advice, statement, memorandum, or information distributed through the www.cbpp.org shall be at your sole risk.  In no event will the Center, its directors, employees or affiliates, or any party involved in creating, producing, or delivering www.cbpp.org be liable for any direct, incidental, consequential, indirect, special, or punitive damages arising out of your access, use, misuse, or inability to use the site.  Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the site, content services is to stop your use of it. 

Our website, www.cbpp.org, may include inadvertent inaccuracies or errors, or information or materials that violate these terms of use. Additionally, the possibility exists that a third party could make unauthorized alterations to this website content or features. Although we attempt to ensure the integrity of www.cbpp.org, we make no guarantees as to its completeness or correctness. In the event that a situation arises in which www.cbpp.org’s completeness or correctness is in question, please contact us with, if possible, a description of the material to be checked and the location (URL) where such material can be found on www.cbpp.org, as well as information sufficient to enable us to contact you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Center and its affiliates, and their respective members, directors, officers, managers, employees, shareholders, agents, and licensors, from and against all losses, expenses, damages and costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, resulting from any violation by you of these  terms and conditions, or any breach by you of your representations and warranties hereunder.

The Center respects the intellectual property of others. If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please provide the Center the written information specified below as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). 

  1. A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed;
  2. Identification and description of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
  3. Information reasonably sufficient to locate the allegedly infringing material on the site.
  4. The address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address at which you may be contacted.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Miscellaneous

These terms of use shall be governed by the laws of the United States and the District of Columbia without regard to conflict of law principles.  By using www.cbpp.org, you agree that any action to enforce these Terms of Service shall be brought in the courts located in the District of Columbia. If a court finds any provision in these terms of use to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect, and the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision.
