On state budgets and taxes, Michael Leachman testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform and offered guidance on how the American Rescue Plan’s Fiscal Recovery Funds are helping produce a stronger recovery. On federal taxes, Chuck Marr emphasized that the rising costs of basic needs due to increasing inflation underscores the urgency of extending the expanded Child Tax Credit. On food assistance, CBPP and the Benefits Data Trust developed a toolkit on eligibility requirements and enrollment coverage for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). On Social Security, we updated our backgrounder on Supplemental Security Income and our Top Ten Facts About Social Security.
