Housing Vouchers

More than 2 million low-income families, with more than 5 million people, use vouchers to help pay for housing they find in the private market.

The program is federally funded, but it’s run by a network of about 2,000 state and local housing agencies. We work to prevent cuts in federal funding for housing vouchers, and to expand and improve the Housing Choice Voucher program.
