This week at CBPP, we focused on health, federal tax, food assistance, and the economy.
- On health, CBPP President Sharon Parrott released a statement on how the Dobbs decision reduces freedom and will widen inequities.
- On federal tax, Kris Cox, Samantha Jacoby, and Chuck Marr explained how stimulus payments and the Child Tax Credit expansion were critical parts of the successful COVID-19 policy response. George Fenton pointed out a new study that finds family income support in childhood increases future earnings. Jabari Cook stressed that Congress should support LGBTQ people with low incomes by expanding the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit.
- On food assistance, Zoë Neuberger, Katie Bergh, and Lauren Hall detailed how the infant formula shortage highlights WIC’s critical role in feeding babies.
- On the economy, we updated our chart book tracking the recovery from the pandemic recession. We also updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are currently available.
