On poverty and inequality, we described how robust COVID-19 relief measures have achieved historic gains against poverty and bolstered the economy. On the federal budget, we called on policymakers to honor Black History Month by moving forward with measures that take down or lower obstacles in the way of Black people. On family income support, Laura Meyer, Ife Floyd, and LaDonna Pavetti stressed that ending behavioral requirements and reproductive control measures would move TANF in an antiracist direction. Diana Azevedo-McCaffrey explained why states should direct child support payments deducted from tax refunds to children. On housing, Sonya Acosta explained that rental aid in COVID-19 relief packages can help formerly incarcerated people. On state taxes, Samantha Waxman and Iris Hinh maintained that states can adopt or expand earned income tax credits to build equitable, inclusive communities and economies.
