This week at CBPP, we focused on state budgets and taxes, health, housing, family income support, and the economy.
On state budgets and taxes, Jennifer Sullivan demonstrated how better state budget and policy decisions can improve health.
On health, Jennifer Wagner highlighted Arkansas Medicaid beneficiaries struggling with the state’s reporting obligations as more face a work requirement. Kyle Hayes cited health care providers and advocates explaining the harm of Medicaid work requirements.
On housing, Douglas Rice pointed out that a fiscal year 2019 funding bill and carryover funding should enable agencies to issue more Housing Choice Vouchers this year.
On family income support, Liz Schott, Ife Floyd, and Ashley Burnside updated their research and a related brief on how states use funds under the TANF block grant. We also updated related state-by-state fact sheets.
On the economy, we updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are available.
