This week at CBPP, we focused on state budgets and taxes, health, housing, family income support, and the economy.
- On state budgets and taxes, Jennifer Sullivan demonstrated how better state budget and policy decisions can improve health.
- On health, Jennifer Wagner highlighted Arkansas Medicaid beneficiaries struggling with the state’s reporting obligations as more face a work requirement. Kyle Hayes cited health care providers and advocates explaining the harm of Medicaid work requirements.
- On housing, Douglas Rice pointed out that a fiscal year 2019 funding bill and carryover funding should enable agencies to issue more Housing Choice Vouchers this year.
- On family income support, Liz Schott, Ife Floyd, and Ashley Burnside updated their research and a related brief on how states use funds under the TANF block grant. We also updated related state-by-state fact sheets.
- On the economy, we updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are available.
