Charting the June Jobs Report

| By CBPP

We’ve updated our Great Recession chart book to reflect the June jobs data that the Bureau of Labor Statistics released today.  The new data show that private employers have added 14.8 million jobs to their payrolls in the 76 months since February 2010, an average of 195,000 jobs a month.

Total employment (private plus government) has averaged 190,000 a month over that period, as federal, state, and especially local government were net job losers.  In June, private employers added 265,000 jobs.  Federal, state, and local government employment increased by 2,000, 3,000, and 17,000 respectively.
