September 29, 2023, 3:25 pm | By CBPP This week at CBPP, we focused on food assistance, health, state budgets and taxes, the federal budget, and the economy.On food assistance, Dottie Rosenbaum emphasized that the House Republicans’ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program amendments to the Agriculture appropriations bill would take food away from more than 1 million low-income people. Javier Balmaceda outlined why Puerto Rico and other territories should get food assistance equity in the upcoming farm bill.On health, Breanna Sharer explained that with North Carolina adopting Medicaid expansion, a dwindling number of states are missing out on its economic and health benefits.
