On state budgets and taxes, Ed Lazere and Maya El Jawhari explained that states can center equity to strengthen their economic relief and recovery spending. Michael Mazerov and Emma Morris pointed out that Oklahoma’s tax cuts would drain revenue and stifle the state’s economic growth. On federal taxes, Chuck Marr and Samantha Jacoby maintained that the Securing a Strong Retirement Act of 2022 would further skew the benefits of tax-favored retirement accounts. On health, Laura Guerra-Cardus and Laura Harker stressed that Congress needs to act now to reduce coverage losses when the public health emergency ends. On family income support, Diana Azevedo-McCaffrey emphasized that states should use a new requirement in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families to improve support for domestic violence survivors. On food assistance, Catlin Nchako updated our state-by-state fact sheets on who benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). We also updated our SNAP resources list. On the economy, we updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are currently available.
