Director of Health Insurance and Marketplace Policy
Tara Straw is the Director of Health Insurance and Marketplace Policy of the Health Policy division. She primarily focuses on tax-related health issues, including the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credit, employer-sponsored health coverage, and health reimbursement arrangements. She leads the Center’s Beyond the Basics project to train enrollment assisters on health insurance marketplace operations and enrollment policies.
Before joining the Center, she was the Legislative and Policy Director for Health Care for America Now, where she led a broad coalition of advocates working to pass and implement health reform. Prior to that, she held several positions at health-focused nonprofits.
Straw received a master’s degree in Public Policy from American University and a law degree and LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
