Recently at CBPP, we focused on the federal budget, food assistance, health, immigration, the economy, state budgets and taxes, climate, and Social Security.

• On the federal budget, Devin O’Connor and Sam Berger underscored that although the Trump Administration sent Congress a second spending cuts package, it plans to illegally withhold the money until it expires with or without congressional action.
• On food assistance, we updated our By the Numbers brief that explains how the harmful Republican megabill will take food assistance away from millions of people as it makes the deepest SNAP cuts in history.
• On health, we updated our By the Numbers brief that explains how the harmful Republican megabill will take health coverage from millions of people.
• On immigration, Shelby Gonzales explained that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ latest effort to take away health coverage will burden states with more red tape.
• On the economy, Gbenga Ajilore posted a video explaining the Bureau of Economic Analysis’s July estimate of the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index and its impact on consumers.
• On state budgets and taxes, Joanna LeFebvre, Samantha Waxman, and Sonali Master updated our analysis and interactive map detailing state earned income tax credits and child tax credits. LeFebvre also warned that a Kentucky school district may need a payroll loan amid falling state aid and tax cuts.
• On climate, Rachel Jacobson noted that the Environmental Protection Agency is ending billions in grants to states, tribes, and territories to bring solar energy to low-income households.
• On Social Security, we updated our backgrounder on Social Security trust funds.
