This week at CBPP, we focused on health, immigration, climate, and the economy.

On health, Elizabeth Zhang and Gideon Lukens detailed how harsh Medicaid work requirements in the newly enacted harmful Republican megabill will put 9.9 million to 14.9 million people at risk of losing Medicaid coverage. We updated our By the Numbers brief that explains how the harmful Republican megabill will take health coverage from millions of people. Allie Gardner updated our resource tracking harmful executive actions with entries on how the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) plan to phase out Medicaid continuous eligibility will put enrollees at risk of gaps in coverage, especially children, and CMS’s announcement that it will phase out state Medicaid policies that aim to build and strengthen the health care workforce.

On immigration, Margot Dankner updated our executive action tracker with an entry on how the Trump Administration is seeking to exclude lawfully present immigrants from Head Start, medical care programs, and other vital services.

On climate, Mikaela Tajo explained that a new executive order signed by President Trump will raise energy costs, undermine economic opportunity, and increase climate pollution.
