This week at CBPP, we focused on the federal budget, health, food assistance, and the economy.

On the federal budget, we released a report and summary blog post by CBPP President Sharon Parrott outlining the high stakes of upcoming policy debates as House Republicans reportedly pursue cuts totaling more than $5 trillion over the next decade.
On health, Gideon Lukens and Elizabeth Zhang emphasized that proposals from Republican congressional leaders and conservative think tanks to impose Medicaid work requirements could put an estimated 36 million people at risk of losing health coverage.
On food assistance, Katie Bergh, Dottie Rosenbaum, and Catlin Nchako cautioned policymakers against Republican SNAP proposals that could take food away from millions of low-income families.
On the economy, we updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are available per state.
