Fiscal Recovery Fund Spending by States, U.S. Territories
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 included an array of aid to reduce the extreme hardship that people, businesses, and communities face from the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to targeted aid for child care, eviction prevention, and other services, the Rescue Plan provided $350 billion in Fiscal Recovery Funds for states, localities, tribal nations, and U.S. Territories to spend over four years. While there are some restrictions on the use of funds, states have considerable flexibility in deciding how best to address the impacts of the pandemic and support an equitable recovery.
Many states and territories have appropriated a substantial share of their Fiscal Recovery Funds. These interactives present information on their allocation of the funds, including investments that enhance equity.
