CBPP Announces New Chief People and Culture Officer
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) announced today that Dr. Larry LaDell Robertson has joined the organization as Chief People and Culture Officer, following a national search. Robertson will lead CBPP’s work to recruit and support talented and diverse staff who are empowered to advance our mission. He will also collaborate with senior leaders to foster an equitable and inclusive organizational culture.
Robertson is an accomplished people leader, with expertise in human resources and organizational leadership from over 30 years of experience spanning the insurance, aerospace, nonprofit, and association sectors.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Larry to CBPP’s leadership team,” said Sharon Parrott, CBPP President. “Larry understands that our people are our greatest asset. He brings deep expertise, a commitment to equity and inclusion, and a focus on partnering with other leaders to promote strong engagement, belonging, and growth across our staff community.”
Most recently, Robertson served as the Chief People Officer for the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges. Previously, he served as Vice President of Human Resources and Belonging for the American Institute of Architects.
“I’ve long believed, as Marcus Buckingham puts it, that leadership is about rallying people to a better future,” said Robertson. “I’m excited to join CBPP and work alongside a team of leaders at all levels who are committed to making that future real.”
In addition to his executive leadership, Robertson is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in human resources and management.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Robertson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in public service from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management and Development from National Louis University. In 2024, Robertson earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership, Learning, and Innovation by Wilmington University.
