The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is a high-caliber and strategic research and policy institute on the front lines of policy making. We apply our deep expertise – in budget and tax issues, and in programs and policies for low-income people – to help shape debates and achieve significant policy improvements.

Over the years, our work has led to concrete federal and state policies that have improved the economic security and well-being of tens of millions of people and the fiscal soundness of our government.

We also work in the states through the State Priorities Partnership, a network of 40 independent, state-based policy organizations coordinated by the Center. These groups analyze and critique state budget, tax, and other policies that affect low-income households and work to secure adequate funding for vital public services like education and health care.
