This week at CBPP, we focused on health, Social Security, the federal budget, and the economy.

On health, Jennifer Wagner and Allison Orris warned that the Trump Administration’s final rule implementing the new Medicaid work requirement made major policy shifts that will likely take health care away from more people, while stymieing states’ ability to implement the requirement on time.
On Social Security, Kathleen Romig highlighted new data showing the Trump Administration has pushed out more than 8,000 Social Security Administration (SSA) workers, SSA’s largest one-year staffing reduction on record, compromising SSA’s ability to reliably serve seniors, bereaved families, and people with disabilities in every state.
On the federal budget, Nick Gwyn testified before the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, explaining why block grants are not a sustainable solution to addressing program benefit cliffs.
On the economy, Gbenga Ajilore explained how implementation of last summer’s harmful Republican megabill along with the Trump Administration’s actions will deepen harms for Black households and small businesses.
