BEYOND THE NUMBERS
In Case You Missed It...
This week at CBPP, we focused on the federal budget and taxes and housing.
- On the federal budget and taxes, Jacob Leibenluft and Devin O’Connor examined how President Trump’s rescissions proposal undermines Congress’s recent funding agreement and threatens future bipartisan deals.
- On housing, Will Fischer and Erik Gartland warned that a Trump Administration proposal to put time limits on rental assistance would place more than 3 million people — half of them children — at risk of eviction and homelessness.

The Center was active on social media this week. Here are some of our posts:
Sharon Parrott posted a thread on X and Bluesky critiquing the Trump Administration's rescission strategy and explaining why it damages Congress’s ability to reach bipartisan agreements.
Will Fischer posted a thread on X emphasizing why Congress should expand rental assistance instead of approving House Republicans’ proposed cuts to housing vouchers, which would increase homelessness and evictions.
Gbenga Ajilore posted a thread on X and Bluesky examining the importance of additional funding for the Census Bureau and how proposed cuts could affect the Bureau’s ability to maintain reliable data and budget projections.
