This week at CBPP, we focused on housing, the federal budget, health, climate change, immigration, Social Security, and state budgets and taxes.
- On housing, Erik Gartland, Alicia Mazzara, Will Fischer, and Nick Kasprak explained where households using federal rental assistance live across the 100 most populous metropolitan areas alongside an interactive map. Gartland summarized how the new report finds untapped potential in the U.S. rental assistance landscape.
- On the federal budget, we launched a new resource tracking the impact of Trump Administration executive actions.
- On health, Jennifer Sullivan explained that policies designed to strengthen the Affordable Care Act marketplaces succeed, but are under threat. We updated our data showing that 36 million people are at risk of having their health coverage taken away under Medicaid work requirements.
- On climate change, Samantha Jacoby, Mikaela Tajo, and Rachel Jacobson described how attacks on the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund are misguided and misleading. Jacobson outlined the need for states to address climate change and revenue needs together for maximum impact.
- On immigration, Kiran Rachamallu explained how Republican budget reconciliation options would harm people who are immigrants and their families.
- On Social Security, Kathleen Romig cautioned that proposed cuts to Supplemental Security Income would hurt disabled children and their families.
- On state budgets and taxes, Don Griswold testified before the Maryland Senate Budget and Taxation Committee on the need to close a corporate tax loophole.
