This week at CBPP, we focused on the federal budget, health, immigration, climate change, food assistance, housing, and Social Security.

On the federal budget, CBPP President Sharon Parrott outlined the widespread hardship that could result from a leaked list of House Republican budget and tax options.
On health, Jennifer Wagner clarified that Medicaid eligibility and enrollment rules finalized by the Biden Administration make enrollment easier for people who are already eligible, rather than expand eligibility. We also released a Spanish translation of our blog post on the differences in health coverage rates across racial and ethnic groups.
On immigration, Shelby Gonzales explained birthright citizenship is a constitutional guarantee that a president can’t end by executive order.
On climate change, Mikaela Tajo and Rachel Jacobson emphasized the benefits communities are experiencing thanks to clean energy tax credits made available by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), despite risks to the program under the Trump Administration.
On food assistance, we updated our state-by-state fact sheets on who benefits from SNAP.
On housing, we updated our state-by-state fact sheets on households helped by federal rental assistance.
On Social Security, we updated our report on how Social Security lifts more people above the poverty line than any other program.
