This week on Off the Charts, we talked about health care and state budgets.
On health care, Judy Solomon outlined significant threats to Medicaid in a bill proposed by Wisconsin’s Governor Scott Walker. Edwin Park explained why block-granting Medicaid would shift costs to states and also how the House-passed continuing resolution would weaken Medicare.
On state budgets, Liz McNichol emphasized several important facts about state and local workers, and Nick Johnson discussed the role that tax cuts have played in widening Wisconsin’s budget hole. Nick also highlighted new reports showing the need to take a balanced approach to fixing state budgets. Erica Williams noted problems in Florida’s recent TABOR proposal.
