Shaquia is the Controller with the Finance team, leading and overseeing accounting operations and functions. With more than ten years of combined finance, accounting, and audit experience, Shaquia brings a wealth of knowledge and a very well-rounded background. She has served non-profit organizations in various capacities, worked for public accounting firms, provided audit support in the federal government arena, and worked for public companies reporting to the SEC.

In her previous role, Shaquia served as the Controller, Director of Corporate Accounting & Treasury for a notable affordable housing developer non-profit. During her time there, Shaquia led a team responsible for accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, audits, financial reporting, and financial regulatory compliance. Her primary focuses included leveraging technology and developing policies to ensure efficiency and compliance.

Prior to her previous role, Shaquia worked at a top accounting firm where she led multiple engagement teams servicing non-profit organizations working in the Finance & Accounting Outsourcing practice under the Technology Consulting line of business. She supervised engagements, ensuring the completion of month-end close and issuance of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, facilitating client audits, and assisting in annual budget preparation and facilitating the completion of various tax returns, including the annual non-profit 990 return. She served as a career advisor to associate staff to encourage successful development, and as an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion she also served as a local office co-lead, encouraging inclusive and healthy work environments for all staff.

Shaquia earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, and she is also a licensed real estate consultant.
