Maryan is Deputy Chief Development Officer on the Development team. She was most recently the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development at Better Markets, where she was responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all of Better Markets’ fundraising activities, allowing it to achieve its mission and maximize its impact. She brings with her more than six years of fundraising experience.

Ms. Abdelmesih previously served as the Director of Development at United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) USA, a nonprofit that supports the humanitarian and human development work of UNRWA through fundraising, education, and advocacy. Prior to that, she worked at Global Witness, a nonprofit that focuses on the links between natural resource exploitation, conflict, poverty, corruption, and human rights abuses worldwide; and the Bipartisan Policy Center, a nonprofit organization that ensures policymakers work across party lines to craft bipartisan solutions that improve lives.

Ms. Abdelmesih graduated in 2012 from Pepperdine University, earning a Masters in Public Policy with a double concentration in economics and international relations, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Riverside, where she studied Political Science and Religious Studies.
