Don Griswold is a Senior Fellow on the State Fiscal Policy team. He is responsible for producing rigorous research-based analysis of U.S. state and local tax policy options for eradicating abusive tax avoidance and advancing inclusive prosperity.

Prior to joining the Center, Don wrote the (Re)Thinking Tax column for Bloomberg and Just SALT column for Tax Notes on topics including tax transparency, gender tax equity, corporate and billionaire state tax avoidance, and the intersection of tax justice with human rights. His policy consulting included convening renowned data scientists and tax justice advocates to recommend transformative technology antidotes to abusive financial secrecy at the International Anti-Corruption Conference.

Before changing his worldview, Don spent decades serving large multinational corporations in high-profile thought leadership positions. He worked as a Fortune 10 conglomerate’s executive tax counsel, a Big 4 accounting firm’s national partner-in-charge of its 600-person "state tax minimization" group, and a nationwide tax litigation partner with two AmLaw 100 firms. He was a prolific public speaker and taught as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.

Don earned a B.A. in Economics, with honors, from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.
