Alex Berger is Manager of Government Affairs on the Government Affairs team. Before joining the Center, Alex helped direct field operations for the Biden campaign in Wisconsin. Prior to the campaign, Alex served as a legislative strategist at the Pew Charitable Trusts, coordinating lobbying campaigns and grassroots activities to pass ambitious criminal justice reforms in several states. Alex also worked as a graduate fellow at the U.S. Department of Education as part of the Obama Administration's My Brother's Keeper Initiative and on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide with the American Civil Liberties Union focusing on drug policy and sentencing reform. In addition, he was an elementary school teacher in Atlanta as a Teach for America corps member.

Alex received a Masters of Public Policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan.
