This week at CBPP, we focused on health, federal taxes, food assistance, Social Security, and the economy.

On health, Jennifer Sullivan, Allison Orris, and Gideon Lukens highlighted that, now entering their second decade, Affordable Care Act coverage expansions have helped millions and helped provide the basis for further progress. Laura Harker and Brianna Sharer updated our resource on frequently asked questions about Medicaid expansion. We also we updated our resource tracking states’ unwinding from Medicaid continuous coverage.
On federal taxes, Chuck Marr, George Fenton, and Samantha Jacoby pointed to why Congress should revisit the 2017 tax law’s trillion-dollar corporate rate cut in 2025. Sarah Calame emphasized that the bipartisan Child Tax Credit expansion would benefit about 6 million young children.
On food assistance, we posted a brief summarizing our report on how state Medicaid agencies can partner with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) to improve the health of pregnant and postpartum people, infants, and young children.
On Social Security, we updated our backgrounder on Supplemental Security Income.
On the economy, we updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are available per state.
