In Case You Missed It...
This week at CBPP, we focused on food assistance, the federal budget, housing, health, and the economy.
- On food assistance, Katie Bergh and Zoë Neuberger emphasized that hundreds of thousands of young children and postpartum adults would be turned away from WIC under House and Senate funding levels.
- On the federal budget, David Reich pointed out that the partisan House appropriations bills underfund non-defense priorities and are a sharp break from the bipartisan debt ceiling agreement.
- On housing, Sonya Acosta noted that the House and Senate appropriations bills prioritize rental assistance, though the House bill makes sharp cuts.
- On health, we updated our resource tracking states’ unwinding from continuous Medicaid coverage.
- On the economy, we updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are available per state.
