This week at CBPP, we focused on federal taxes, housing, health, Social Security, and the economy.
- On federal taxes, CBPP President Sharon Parrott released a statement on the House-passed bipartisan tax bill’s Child Tax Credit expansion, explaining that it would help 16 million children in low-income families. Sarah Calame underscored how the bipartisan Child Tax Credit expansion would help roughly half a million children in veteran and active-duty families in the first year.
- On housing, Peggy Bailey testified before the Senate Budget Committee on the housing affordability crisis and the need to expand rental subsidy programs.
- On health, Jennifer Wagner noted that lessons learned from unwinding can improve Medicaid.
- On Social Security, Kathleen Romig detailed how Social Security lifts more people above the poverty line than any other program.
- On the economy, we updated our chart book on the recovery from the pandemic recession.
