WIC Improves Health and Contributes to Local Economies
The federally funded WIC program — formally the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children — is a cost-effective program that improves lifetime health for new and expecting parents, babies, and children under 5 in families with low incomes. WIC provides healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health care and social services.
