In Case You Missed It...
This week at CBPP, we focused on food assistance, Social Security, and housing.
- On food assistance, Steven Carlson, Joseph Llobrera, and Zoë Neuberger underscored that WIC — the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children — is a cost-effective investment in improving low-income families’ nutrition and health. Tamika Moore and Emmie DiCicco asserted that the new restrictions on foods families can purchase with SNAP undermine their health, dignity, and freedom.
- On Social Security, Kathleen Romig highlighted the Trump Administration’s plans to make deep cuts to Social Security Disability Insurance, which would particularly impact older workers.
- On housing, Anna Bailey noted that the Department of Housing and Urban Development plans to severely cap funding for Continuum of Care grants, stripping over 170,000 formerly homeless people of their housing assistance.
