This week at CBPP, we largely focused our analysis on the Senate Republican leadership’s bill text for budget reconciliation, in the areas of the federal budget and taxes, health, food assistance, immigration, climate, and state budgets and taxes. 

Apart from reconciliation, we also focused on Social Security and state budgets and taxes.

Sharon Parrott posted a thread on X and Bluesky highlighting the harmful provisions in Senate Republican leaders’ bill that benefit the wealthy and leave behind 80 percent of households. 

Kathleen Romig posted a thread on X and Bluesky responding to the 2025 Social Security Trustees Report projections, highlighting how the Trump Administration’s tariff and mass deportation policies could negatively impact Social Security financing.
