Federal Rental Assistance in Urban, Suburban and Rural Areas. Half of federally assisted households live in urban neighborhoods, 31 percent live in suburban neighborhoods, and just under a fifth live in rural areas. Housing Choice Voucher Utilization Data Tables.  The links below provide annual data on the number of families using housing vouchers, the percentage of authorized vouchers that families are using, and total voucher assistance payments, by state and local housing agency, 2004 to present.  Quarterly data on the number of families using housing vouchers are also available. Use these tables to look up data on a particular state or housing agency. You can export your tables to Excel or download the data for all states.
