Susan Steinmetz plays a senior advisory role at the Center, having served as Executive Vice President for Program Development and Management for over a decade. She assists the Center in efforts to strengthen organizational capacity, sustainability, and impact. Formerly, she directed the Center's national policy and legislative work on income security. She is a former staff member of the House Government Reform Committee, where she staffed oversight work on a range of public health and safety net issues, including the first congressional investigation into the government’s role in fighting HIV. Prior to her work on Capitol Hill, she organized state outreach campaigns on school food programs for the Children's Foundation and was a community organizer in the South. She is a graduate of Brown University.
