The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has provided health coverage to roughly 20 million previously uninsured people in the U.S. while reducing budget deficits.

We encourage states to expand their Medicaid programs, which more than half of them have done, providing coverage to millions more low-income households. We work to protect the ACA’s coverage expansions and financing mechanisms, and to ensure that the law is implemented effectively.
