The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (https://www.cbpp.org) is seeking a senior fellow or senior analyst to lead its work on federal tax issues. One of the nation’s leading think tanks, the Center analyzes federal tax policies and proposals with respect to their impact on households in different income categories, their long-term impact on the federal budget, and their likely effectiveness in accomplishing their stated policy goals.

The Center has attained a national reputation for its unique capacity to blend rigorous, timely analyses with activities designed to enable policymakers in Washington and the states to make use of its work. In the last few years, the Center has produced dozens of reports examining proposals on issues such as income tax rate reductions, estate taxes, the Child Tax Credit, health tax credits, the tax treatment of capital gains and IRAs, the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Alternative Minimum Tax, and tax reform.

Responsibilities of this position include analyzing key tax policy issues and proposals, authoring papers, designing policy options, and providing information and technical assistance to federal policymakers. As a principal spokesperson for the Center on tax issues, this analyst will deliver speeches and testimony and provide information to the press through regular interviews and press briefings.

Candidates for this position must be familiar with federal tax policies and possess strong analytic skills. Candidates should also have excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-experts. Candidates should have a graduate degree and significant work experience in relevant positions. The Center will consider applicants with a variety of backgrounds.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. The Center offers excellent benefits, including two health insurance options, dental and vision care, life and disability insurance, retirement benefits, flexible spending accounts, and generous vacation, sick leave, and holiday schedules.
