Nakia Wilson is the Deputy Director of Conferences and Trainings with the Center’s State Fiscal Policy division. In this role, she oversees the Center’s major convenings which provide meaningful meeting spaces for deeper learning and engagement to staff, funders, and allies across the State Priorities Partnership network.
Prior to joining the Center in 2017, Nakia worked as the Senior CME Coordinator for MedStar Washington Hospital Center where she managed the continuing medical education program for the hospital. She previously spent seven years at AARP working with the State and Government Relations department on collaborations with policymakers to protect programs affecting the nation’s 50+ population.
In her spare time, she volunteers with several foundations to provide youth outreach services that cultivate the next generation of responsible leaders by providing educational enrichment, mentoring, and life transformation skills. She has also organized an international cultural exchange mission to Colombia, South America for over 100 students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s).
Nakia holds a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from Howard University.
