Kalena Murphy is a Senior State Campaigns Manager on the State Fiscal Policy Campaigns team. She manages the field strategy in key states engaged in the federal campaign with a particular focus on raising progressive revenue and enacting major expansions of housing assistance, health coverage, the Child Tax Credit, and the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Throughout her career, she has worked to elevate marginalized voices in health policy conversations and expand health access. Before joining the Center, Murphy was the Senior State Advocacy Manager for Raising Women’s Voices (RWV) at the National Women’s Health Network. She provided strategic support, technical assistance, organizational capacity building, customizable campaign assets, and networking resources to RWV regional coordinators in targeted states. She also led the Network’s sub-grant funding process. Prior to that, Murphy developed and supported statewide outreach, education, enrollment strategies and efforts at Enroll Michigan, resulting in Enroll Michigan ranking in the top 10 among navigator organizations for Affordable Care Act enrollment. Murphy served as chair of the Enroll West Michigan coalition. Kalena also received personal recognition from the Obama Administration for best practices in outreach and enrollment implementation.
Murphy holds a B.S in biomedical science from Grand Valley State University.
