Aoife Toomey is CBPP’s Vice President for Development. In this role she designs and leads CBPP’s fundraising strategy, working to strengthen key partnerships and build new relationships with funders seeking to promote systemic change, reduce poverty, and advance economic equity through sound, data-driven policies.

Toomey joined CBPP in 2018 as State Network Fundraising Manager within the State Fiscal Policy team. She was later promoted to Director of Network Philanthropic Engagement, where she focused on managing relationships with foundations that fund the State Priorities Partnership, cultivating new funders, and assisting Partnership groups with their own fundraising efforts.

Toomey began her fundraising career in electoral politics before working in both individual and institutional donor relations as a frontline fundraiser at organizations including the Pew Charitable Trusts, Bipartisan Policy Center, and Smithsonian Institution, where she served as Assistant Director for Foundation Relations. Prior to joining CBPP, Toomey was the Director of Annual Giving and Special Projects at Carlow University in Pittsburgh. She has served on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Western Pennsylvania chapter and as a mentor for AFP DC’s mentoring program.

Toomey received an M.B.A. from Carlow University and a B.A. in political science and economics from Trinity College, Dublin.
