Development and External Affairs
David Simmons

Simmons joined the Center in late 2007 as Director of Development and External Affairs. He oversees the foundation and individual donor fundraising efforts. He has raised funds for various social justice organizations and political candidates for over 20 years.

Before joining the Center, Simmons spent three years as Chief Operating Officer for Equal Justice Works. Prior to that, he served for six years as that organization’s Vice President of Development.

Simmons also spent five years as the Director of Organizational Development with the National Immigration Forum. Prior to that, he raised funds for an environmental group and for an internationally focused peace and justice organization.

He holds a B.A. in History from Briar Cliff University and has done graduate studies in history at Loyola University of Chicago.
