Shawn Fremstad

Former Staff

Fremstad was Deputy Director of the Welfare Reform and Income Support Division. He also was the coordinator of Center work related to immigrants' eligibility for public benefits. While at the Center, Fremstad was a frequent speaker on welfare reform and related policy issues at state and national conferences.

Prior to joining the Center, he worked on a range of policy and legal issues as an attorney with legal services programs in Minnesota. Fremstad served on numerous state boards and advisory committees in Minnesota, including the state's Child Support Advisory Committee, a Minnesota Supreme Court advisory committee on child support rules, and the Minnesota Working Family Tax Credit Advisory Committee. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.
