Program Officer (South Asia)
Job Description
Provide project management support, conduct research, and provide technical assistance with a focus on the South Asian region for the Open Budget Initiative, a research and advocacy project of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities that seeks to increase public access to budget information and inclusive and accountable budget-making. Provide technical assistance and training to research organizations on best practices related to public financial management. Conduct qualitative and quantitative social science research, conduct country assessments and document innovative civil society tactics and strategies to promote reforms, and produce case studies and impact assessments. Provide technical assistance to providers and in-country peer-reviewers and design and deliver training modules and presentations on budget transparency and accountable and inclusive budget-making. Engage in project management activities such as negotiating and drafting contracts with civil society partners; drafting and proofreading project correspondence, contracts, and documents; maintaining project files and a project deadline tracking system to generate periodic progress reports. International travel is required.
Job Requirements
Master’s degree in Public Policy; 1 year experience conducting social science research; 6 months experience working on issues related to the South Asian region; and Proficiency in statistical analysis using STATA or SPSS, all of which may be achieved concurrently through academic coursework or professional experience.
