PRESIDENT'S BUDGET PROPOSALS
FOR FUTURE YEAR DISCRETIONARY FUNDING:
BY BUDGET ACCOUNT
Information on the Administration’s proposal for the funding of specific discretionary budget accounts can be obtained by clicking here.
This information has not been made widely available by the Administration. The budget documents released by the Administration clearly indicate the overall amount of cuts proposed for discretionary (annually appropriated) programs. Furthermore, the President’s proposed cuts in major categories of these programs — while not explicitly shown by the budget — can be determined by careful analysis of those documents (see the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities paper, “The Hidden Cuts in Domestic Appropriations: OMB Data Reveal Deep Funding Cuts After 2007,” http://www.cbpp.org/2-9-06bud.pdf.)
The level of funding for individual discretionary budget accounts proposed in the President’s budget for years after fiscal year 2007, however, is available only on an Office of Management and Budget computer run that was not widely distributed and is not available on the OMB website. That computer run shows the proposed level of funding (and associated outlays) for each budget account (mandatory as well as discretionary accounts) for the current fiscal year (“CY” = fiscal year 2006), the budget year (“BY” = 2007), and for each of the next four years (“BY+1” = 2008, and so on). |
