Alvarez joined the Center in September 2009 as a Research Associate in the Housing Division. She works on issues related to federal housing policy impacting low-income families.
Before coming to the center, she worked as a Research Coordinator for the Center for Latino Family Research at Washington University in Saint Louis. She also has direct practice experience working with low-income families, survivors of intimate partner violence, incarcerated women, and the child welfare system.
Alvarez holds a B.S.W degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master degree in Social Work from Washington University in Saint Louis.
