David Lara joined the Center in November of 2009 as a Senior Legislative Associate. His work covers a range of domestic policy issues including health care, low-income housing, budget and tax policy, immigrant benefits, and the nexus of state and federal fiscal policy issues.
Prior to joining the Center, David worked in the New York State Washington Office of the Governor where he served as Federal Budget Liaison and Associate Director for Federal Policy. Before this position, he was a Governor Hugh L. Carey Fellow at the New York State Division of Budget and focused on Medicaid long-term care finance.
Lara holds a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Washington and a M.P.Aff. from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin.
