Roberta Downing joined the Center as a Senior Legislative Associate in October, 2009 to work on domestic policy issues including health care, food assistance, income maintenance (TANF), climate change, and related issues. Before joining the Center, Downing handled health care, social security, and older Americans policy for Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio. Prior to working for Senator Brown, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as part of the W. K. Kellogg Community Health Scholars Program. Downing has also served as a Congressional Fellow in the health policy office of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Downing completed her Ph.D. in social psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
